I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON EIGHT
WEEK 34
This week in the Premier League, In the Merseyside derby, Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 at home to maintain their title challenge and drop their neighbours into the relegation zone. Man City destroyed Watford 5-1 to stay top. Arsenal beat Man Utd 3-1 at the Emirates to strengthen their Champions League hopes. Burnley beat Wolves at home 1-0 to move them out the relegation zone. Newcastle got a very good 3-0 away win to leave Norwich in dire straits at the bottom. Chelsea beat West Ham at home 1-0. Southampton came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Brighton. Brentford frustrated Spurs as they drew at home 0-0. Leicester also drew at home 0-0 with Aston Villa and in midweek, Man Utd drew 1-1 at home to Chelsea.
In the ITYIFL, it seems the defending Champion Danny Milton has picked the worst possible time to hit some bad form. Some may say it’s about time, but he will not be amused as he had another modest week with a 49 point weekly score. His main contributions came from captain Mount (10) Robertson (15) and Mendy (8).
By contrast, finding a great bit of form at the right time to make this a real title fight, is my old work colleague Mr James. He closed the gap at the top to just 14 points, thanks to a superb 100 point week, making him this week’s Highest Scorer. Doing the business were captain Ronaldo (32) Alonso (19) Robertson (15) Saka (13) and Mount (5). In third, still trying to stay in contention is former champ Jeff Franklin, with a very decent wildcard weekly score of 85 points. This was thanks to captain Havertz (16) Alonso (19) Saka (13) Emerson Royal (8) Schmeichel (8) Salah (6) and Alexander-Arnold (5).
Holding onto a Champions League place is my youngest son and another former champ Latrell Oscar, following his 68 point week. This was due to captain Salah (12) Robertson (15) Saka (13) Davies (6) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Weghorst (5). Talking of form, you cannot look any further than the manager of the month for the last two months, my old football club mate Darren Ahmet. He moved up to fifth, closing the gap on a Champions League place to just 4 points, thanks to a superb 94 point weekly score. This was due to the likes of captain Ronaldo (32) Alonso (19) Saka (13) Matip (8) Alexander-Arnold (5) and Mount (5).
Sanjay Beecher moved down to sixth, with a not too shabby weekly score of 64 points. His contributions came from captain Havertz (16) Saka (13) Raya (6) Salah (6) Alexander-Arnold (5) Anderson (5) and Mount (5). Washington DC’s Greg Cabana remains in seventh, following a 49 point week. This was mainly due to captain Salah (12) Saka (13) Cash (6) and Alexander-Arnold (5).
Another who had been in good form recently, Lee Barratt remains in eighth place, closing the distance to seventh slightly, due to a weekly score of 59 points. This was thanks to captain Salah (12) Saka (13) De Bruyne (9) Guaita (7) and Alexander-Arnold (5). In ninth is Nordin Gharib, who lost ground on the above teams following a disappointing 37 point week, where his only real contributions came from captain Salah (12) and Alexander-Arnold (5).
Flying the flag for the ladies, Natalie Holder consolidated her top ten spot with a very decent 72 point weekly score. This was thanks to captain Ronaldo (32) Saka (13) Martinez (6) and Mount (5). This week’s joint Highest Movers were Kool FM’s Pressure X, who moved up two places from 16th to 14th thanks to a 53 point week. This was due to captain Salah (12) Saka (13) Van Dijk (7) Alexander-Arnold (5) and De Gea (5).
Also, Tommy Lee, who moved up two places from 18th to 16th, thanks to his decent 71 point weekly score. His contributions came from captain Salah (12) Saka (13 Fabianski (11) Havertz (8) Guehi (7) Van Dijk (7) and Dennis (5). Lastly, my oldest nephew Tyrell Miles-Brown, who moved up two places from 22nd to 20th, due to his weekly score of 67 points. This was due to captain Salah (12) Ward-Prowse (15) Saka (13) Van Dijk (7) Martinez (6) and Dennis (5).
Congrats to all the managers who made it through to the last 16 of the cup. Full steam ahead to week 35, make it count y’all.
