I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON EIGHT
WEEK 37
This week in the Premier League, Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 at home to put the Champions League out of the Gunners’ hands. Liverpool beat Southampton away 2-1, and with Man City drawing 2-2 at West Ham, the Premier League title race goes to the last day for the ninth time in history. Tottenham beat Burnley 1-0 at home to put one foot in the Champions League. Leicester smashed Watford 5-1 away. Brentford came from behind twice to beat 10, then 9-man Everton 3-2 away. Leeds got a very late equaliser at home to Brighton to get them some hope of survival. Aston Villa drew 1-1 at home to Crystal Palace, and Wolves drew at home 1-1 to Norwich.
Also, in midweek Everton came from two goals down at halftime to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at home to secure their Premier League status. Burnley drew 1-1 at Villa to help their chances of Premier League survival, and Chelsea drew 1-1 at home to Leicester.
In the ITYIFL, like it was ever in doubt. The defending champion Danny Milton flexed his muscle when it was needed to end all hope for the chasing pack. It’s almost like he played a game to give everyone hope, then snatched it away to show everyone just how this game should be played. He scored a superb free hit weekly score of 83 points thanks to captain Son (6) Maddison (25) Richarlison (19) Sessegnon (8) and Kane (7).
Former champ Jeff Franklin moves up to second and is looking to continue his impressive record by finishing in the top two positions for a third season in a row. He recorded a very decent 74 point weekly score, thanks to the likes of captain Zaha (12) Maddison (25) Alonso (9) Kane (7) and Emerson Royal (6). This saw my old work colleague Mr James move down to third, following his decent 60 point week due to captain Ings (6) Vardy (15) Ait Nouri (11) Alonso (9) and Buendia (8).
Sanjay Beecher moves up into the Champions League places thanks to his very decent free hit 75 point week, with contributions came from captain De Bruyne (4) Richarlison (19) Barnes (17) Digne (8) Kane (7) and Zaha (6). My old football club mate Darren Ahmet move down to fifth, following his disappointing 35 points weekly score. His only contributions came from captain De Bruyne (4) Alonso (9) James (7) and Schmeichel (4).
This week’s Highest Scorer was Washington DC’s Greg Cabana, who scored an impressive 107 point week to move him up three places from 9th to 6th, making him this week’s Highest Mover. Doing the business was captain Maddison (50) Watkins (10) Alonso (9) Kane (7) Welbeck (7) and Zaha (6). Also moving up to seventh, but same points as sixth is another former champ, ahem Charles Denton. Thanks to his very decent free hit weekly score of 70 points, due to captain Son (6) Richarlison (19) Vardy (15) Digne (8) and Zaha (6). It would have been even better if he hadn’t left the 11 point Matip and 5 point Rodri on the bench.
My youngest son and another former champ Latrell Oscar moved down to eighth due to his 52 point week. His contributions came mainly from captain Richarlison (38) and Gordon (4). Lee Barratt also moves down, to ninth, following his weekly score of 46 points. This was due to the likes of captain De Bruyne (4) Pukki (8) Dier (7) Eriksen (5) Holgate (5) Jota (5) and Pickford.
Continuing to fly the flag for the ladies, Natalie Holder remains in tenth, with a decent 59 point weekly score. Thanks to captain Son (6) Richarlison (19) Watkins (10) James (7) Martinez (6) and Jota (5).
Finally, congratulations to Jeff Franklin and Greg Cabana, who made it to the final of the inaugural ITYIFL Cup. Full steam ahead to the last week of the season, make it count y’all.
