TEAM: BOUNEMOUTH
Although Arsenal had one eye on other competitions, they still played a strong team and scored the opening goal.
However, it was against the run of play as Bournemouth essentially played them off the park and got their rewards by scoring two goals in eight second-half minutes to win the game and boost their European hopes.
Well done to Chelsea. Leicester. Brentford. Aston Villa. Man City and Crystal Palace.
GOALKEEPER: BART VERBRUGGEN (Brighton)
This was probably the toughest decision this week. However, the Brighton keeper, whose performances should have earned three points, takes it.
Newcastle are gunning for the Champions League, but they couldn’t get past the Brighton keeper, as much as they tried, and only managed to salvage a point with a late penalty.
Shout out to Crystal Palace’s Henderson and Forest’s Sels.
DEFENDER: DEAN HUIJSEN (Bournemouth)
Despite playing a distracted Arsenal side, it was still an impressive away victory to which he was central.
Not only did he look composed and assured at the back, but it was his header that brought his team back into it with the equaliser, allowing his team to go on and get a great away win.
Well done to his teammate Zabarnyi & Kerkez. Forest’s Murillo. Chelsea’s Caicedo. Palace trio Richards, Lacroix & Guehi. Man City’s Gvardiol. Villa’s Maatsen. Fulham’s Robinson.
Brighton duo Dunk & Van Hecke. Newcastle’s Burn. Leicester duo Justin & Thomas. Brentford’s Kayode. Spurs duo Danso & Spence, also Wolves trio Doherty, Agbadou & Toti.
MIDFIELDER: COLE PALMER (Chelsea)
Despite it being against a Liverpool side, who did some heavy celebrating this week. However, the Chelsea man seemed back to his influential best.
His movement for the first goal bamboozled, to create the first goal. He played a part in the second and cooly tucked away the penalty for the third to seal the game and boost Chelsea’s Champions League hopes.
Shout out to his teammates, Lavia and Enzo. Man City duo De Bruyne & Doku. Villa’s Tielemans. Everton’s McNeil. Ipswich duo Hutchinson & Enciso. West Ham’s Bowen.
Bournemouth’s Semenyo, Leicester’s El Khannouss. Arsenal’s Rice. Brentford duo Norgaard & Damsgaard. Man Utd trio Mount, Garnacho & Amad. Brighton’s Minteh. Tottenham’s Odebert and Palace’s Eze.
FORWARD: KEVIN SCHADE (Brentford)
He was the only forward to notch two goals this week, and they were both well-taken headers.
His two goals against Man Utd were Brentford’s second and third, after going a goal down, which virtually sealed the game for an impressive all around performance.
Well done to his teammate Wissa. Everton’s Beto. Ipswich’s Hurst. Bournemouth’s Evanilson. Leicester duo Vardy & Ayew, also Newcastle’s Isak.
MANAGER: ANDONI IRAOLA (Bournemouth)
Despite Arsenal being distracted, his team bossed the game against a strong lineup and played some lovely football at times.
After going a goal down, they never stopped trying to play their football, so it was a surprise when they scored from two set pieces, but it was no more than they deserved.
Shout out to Chelsea’s Maresca and Brentford’s Frank.
UNSUNG HERO: JULIO ENCISO (Ipswich)
He doesn’t score many, but when he does, they all seem to be goal of the season contenders. Although Ipswich are going down, he has not done his reputation any harm with his performances.
At Everton, he produced a moment of brilliance with a wonder strike before half-time to get his team back in the game, which allowed them to go on and get a second to snatch an away draw.
Well done to Leicester’s Vardy, also Chelsea duo Lavia & Caicedo.
GAME: BRENTFORD 4-3 MAN UTD
Man Utd went into an early lead when Mount touched in Garnacho’s Cross (14). However, an equaliser came when Shaw deflected in Damsgaard’s cross (27). Brentford then took the lead when Schade headed in Norgaard’s cross (33).
In the second half, Schade got his second and Brentford’s third when he nodded in at the back post (70). Four minutes later, it was four when Wissa tapped in Kayode’s cross (74).
Man Utd pulled two goals back through Garnacho with a brilliant strike (82), then Amad (90+5) to make the scoreline respectable, but it was too late.
GOAL: JULIO ENCISO (Ipswich) vs Everton
Midway into the Everton half, Enciso received the ball on the half turn and showed good feet to skip past a player.
He then set himself from about 30 yards out and fairly central, and he unleashed a thunderous effort that flew in off the underside of the bar.
There were also some good goals from Man Utd’s Garnacho and Everton’s. McNiel.
FOOL: MAN UTD
European exploits aside, there is no denying this has been a disastrous league season for Man Utd.
They have now lost 16 league games and sit 15th in the league. They had a mini fight back at Brentford but were already 4-1 down., They are just lucky the bottom three were so bad, otherwise they would have been in a relegation dog fight. FOOLS!
