2025 NFL REGULAR SEASON PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

The 2025 NFL season begins on September 4th until January 4th. The play offs will start on January 10th with SuperBowl LX on February 8th at Levi’s Stadium, the home of San Francisco 49’s in California.

Below are my final group position predictions.

AFC EAST

BUFFALO BILLS
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
MIAMI DOLPHINS
NEW YORK JETS

I doubt anything will stop the Bills from claiming a sixth straight division title. The question is whether they will ever get over the SuperBowl hump, or even make it there. Josh Allen (QB) will continue to lead the team, hoping to reach the promised land with help from the likes of Dion Dawkins (OT), James Cook (RB), and Christian Benford (CB).

Returning to contention after a few years, I expect the Patriots to finish second, though I am unsure if they will be good enough for a playoff spot. They will need contributions from Christian Gonzalez (CB), as well as Drake Maye (QB) and Stefon Diggs (WR).

Despite showing promise in recent seasons, I predict the Dolphins to finish third and ultimately disappoint. They still have very capable playmakers, most notably Tyreek Hill (WR), led by the under-pressure Tua Tagovailoa (QB) and Minkah Fitzpatrick (S).

Despite my prediction of the Jets finishing bottom of the division, they are more than capable of even finishing second. Providing they get performances from Quinnen Williams (DT), Sauce Gardner (CB), and Garret Wilson (WR), led by Justin Fields (QB).

NFC EAST

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
DALLAS COWBOYS
NEW YORK GIANTS

The defending SuperBowl champions have won four of the last eight division titles. However, the Eagles have won two and lost three finals and are hoping to even that this year. They will again look to Jalen Hurts (QB), star player Saquon Barkley (RB), Lane Johnson (OT) and Zack Baun (LB).

The Commanders surprised everyone last season by reaching the conference finals, where they lost to the Eagles. They will face the Eagles again this season as rivals. Their mainmen are Jayden Daniels (QB), Terry McLaurin (WR), and Frankie Luvu (LB).

It is uncertain if the Cowboys will improve on last season or even end the season with more wins than losses. However, they will rely on CeeDee Lamb (WR), Dan Prescott (QB), and Travon Diggs (LB).

I find it hard to see how the Giants will avoid finishing last in this division, but they might win more than three games. To do this, they will need strong performances from Dexter Lawrence (DT), Malik Nabers (WR), and Russell Wilson (QB), who has a tough job ahead.

AFC NORTH

BALTIMORE RAVENS
CINCINNATI BENGALS
PITTSBURGH STEELERS
CLEVELAND BROWNS

I expect the Ravens to win a third straight divisional title, but they will want to go further than the divisional playoff game. They will look to the heroics of star man Lamar Jackson (QB), Derrick Henry (RB), Roquan Smith (LB), and Kyle Hamilton (S).

The Bengals have been steadily improving in the last few seasons and will be pushing for a playoff spot this year. They will be led by Joe Burrow (QB), with Ja’Marr Chase (WR), Trey Hendrickson (DE), and Tee Higgins (WR).

It’s possible that the Steelers could have seen better days and are on a transition period. However, they could still push for a playoff spot and have capable players in T.J. Watt (LB), Aaron Rodgers (QB), who is looking to make a statement, and  Jalen Ramsey (CB).

The main goal for the Browns is to improve on the three games they won last season, which I feel is achievable. Providing they keep fit, the likes of Myles Garrett (DE), Jerry Jeudy (WR), and Joe Flacco (QB).

NFC NORTH

GREEN BAY PACKERS
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
DETROIT LIONS
CHICAGO BEARS

Statistically, this was the strongest division in the NFL. I deliberated on this, but in the end, I went with the Packers to improve massively and win the division for the first time in three years, as they have recruited well. They will look to the likes of  Josh Jacobs (RB), Micah Parsons (DE), Jalen Ramsey (CB), and Jordon Love (QB).

It was a toss-up with the Vikings for the division, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it. Last season, they lost just three games, and they are looking for a similar season this term, with star man Justin Jefferson (WR), Jonathan Greenard (LB), and Aaron Jones (RB).

I am going against my own judgment and bowing to pressure to write off the Lions, despite losing just two games last year and getting to a divisional playoff. To prove me wrong, they will need Penei Sewell (OT), Jared Goff (QB), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR).

The Bears will do very well to improve on last season, where they won five games and put up a challenge to the above teams. They are led by Caleb Williams (QB), with Montez Sweat (DE) and Jaylon Johnson (CB).

AFC SOUTH

HOUSTON TEXANS
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
TENNESSEE TITANS

I expect this division to end exactly how it did last season. However, the Texans will hope to improve on a wild-card win and divisional playoff loss two years in a row. They will be led by C.J. Stoud (QB), with Derek Stingley Jr. (CB), Danielle Hunter (DE), and Nico Collins (WR).

The Colts will hope to push closer or even challenge for winning the division, or at the very least, a playoff spot this season. They will look to the likes of Daniel Jones (QB), Michael Pittman Jr. (WR), and Jonathan Taylor (RB).

Last season, the Jaguars had four wins, I am expecting them to improve on that this season, but the jury is out on whether they can get close to the top two. To do this, they will need Brian Thomas Jr. (WR), Josh Hines-Adam (DE), and Trevor Lawrence (QB).

It looks as though it’s going to be another long season for the Titans; it’s even a stretch to see if they will improve on the three wins they got last season. To do this, they will need Cam Ward (QB), Jeffery Simmons (DT), and Tony Pollard (RB).

NFC SOUTH

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
ATLANTA FALCONS
CAROLINA PANTHERS
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

I tip the Buccaneers to win this division for a fifth year in a row. Their record shows divisional playoff, wildcard, divisional playoff and wildcard in the last four years. So, history suggests a division playoff game this season. They will be led by Baker Mayfield (QB), with Tristan Wirfs (OT) and Mike Evans (RB).

The Falcons will likely have to win a first divisional title in a decade if they are to make it to the postseason, as even a wildcard place is unlikely. They will need performances from Bijan Robinson (RB), Jessie Bates (S), and Drake London (WR).

Hoping to improve on five wins last season, the Panthers aim to make a clear statement this term as they essentially finished joint bottom last time. They will look to Bryce Young (QB), Jaycee Horn (CB), and Derrick Brown (DT).

Whether it was bottom or joint bottom, the Saints need to improve on winning five games last season and return to dominating this division as they did from 2017 to 2020. They will need the likes of Demario Davis (LB), Erik McCoy (C), and Spencer Rattler (QB).

AFC WEST

KANSAS CITY CHEIFS
LOS ANGELAS CHARGERS
DENVER BRONCOS
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

For all of their recent success, the Chiefs will be hurting for not making history of a third SuperBowl in a row. I expect them to continue their domination of this division with a tenth straight win, then embark on another SuperBowl run. Naturally, they will look to Patrick Mahomes (QB), Chris Jones (DT), Travis Kelce (TE), and Trent McDuffie (CB).

The Chargers did well to finish second in the division last season, but disappointed as they were brushed aside in the wildcard game at the Texans. They will again try to push the Chiefs, with Justin Herbert (QB), Derwin James (S), and Khalil Mack (LB).

Despite competing in one of the toughest divisions, the Broncos impressed to make the playoffs, but soon regretted it as they were destroyed by the Bills. However, they will go again with Patrick Surtain II (CB), Nik Bonitto (LB), and Bo Nix (QB) leading them.

With only four wins last season, the Raiders definitely think they can improve, despite being in a very tough position. However, to do this, they will need to have their key men in Maxx Crosby (DE), Brock Bowers (TE), and Geno Smith (QB).

NFC WEST

SANFRANCISCO 49ERS
LOS ANGELES RAMS
ARIZONA CARDINALS
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Surprisingly finishing bottom of the division last season, especially after losing the SuperBowl in OT in 2023,  I am going with the 49ers to get back to winning ways and taking this division for a third time in four years. They will look to the likes of Brock Purdy (QB), Fred Warner (LB), and George Kittle (TE).

The Rams will no doubt try to win back-to-back divisional titles. They lost the divisional playoff to the eventual SuperBowl winners and had no shame in their season. They will be led by Matthew Stafford (QB), with Puka Nacua (WR) and Jared Verse (LB).

Last season, the Cardinals made this division a real battle and only missed out on winning it by two games. They will hope to battle again, with the likes of Kyler Murray (QB),  Budda Baker (S), Trey McBride (TE), and Josh Sweat (DE).

The Seahawks finished last season with the same record as division winners the Rams, but sadly missed out on winning the division and the playoffs due to the league’s complicated tie-breaker procedure. To avoid my prediction of finishing bottom, they will need Sam Darnold (QB), Leonard Williams (TE), and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
