TEAM: BRENTFORD
Although Forest scored four at Ipswich and having a superb season, this week, I felt Brentford’s win at Bournemouth was more impressive.
Despite Bournemouth losing their last two at home, they were leading the game, but Brentford unexpectedly fought back to score two for an impressive fifth straight-away win.
Well done to Notts Forest. Arsenal. Man Utd. Fulham and Wolves.
GOALKEEPER: BERND LENO (Fulham)
The Fulham keeper won this almost by default due to no outstanding goalkeeper performances this week.
However, the Fulham keeper secured a clean sheet against Spurs who, admittedly were not at their blistering best, but still had to make a few saves to earn the clean sheet and Fulham win.
Shout out to Brentford’s Flekken. Leno. Man Utd’s Onana and West Ham’s Areola.
DEFENDER: WILLIAM SALIBA (Arsenal)
It felt like an afternoon stroll for him. Although Chelsea was missing Palmer, Jackson and Madueke, the players who did play, might as well not.
At no stage during the game did it look like Chelsea would score and with Saliba at the back shutting every door, it felt like a man against boys.
Well done to his teammate Timber & Lewis-Skelly. Forest’s Milenkovic. Brentford foursome Lewis-Potter, Pinnock, Collins & Ajar. Man Utd duo De Ligt & Heaven.
Brighton duo Estupinan & Van Hacke. Wolves’ Agbadou. Bournemouth’s Kerkez. Fulham foursome Cartagena, Andersen, Bassey & Robinson.
MIDFIELDER: BRUNO FERNANDES (Man Utd)
Despite Man Utd having a torrid season, he has been the one bright spark, dragging his team out of the mud time and again.
Once again, he was the main man at Leicester, playing head and shoulders above anyone else with two assists and fittingly scoring the third for another man-of-the-match performance.
Shout out to his teammate Garnacho. West Ham duo Soucek & Wan-Bissaka. Wolves duo Bellegarde & Andre. Man City’s Doku. Brighton’s Gomez. Brentford duo Norgaard & Damsgaard.
Ipswich’s Cajuste. Arsenal’s Odegaard. Fulham trio Pereira, Berge & Sessegnon. Also, Forest due Gibbs-White and Elanga who was close to winning this.
FORWARD: JORGEN STRAND LARSEN (Wolves)
The only forward to notch two goals this week. Although it was against the bottom team, it was his two goals that won the game.
The first was a lovely powered header following a cross from the right. The second was a neat touch and far post finish for his first goals of the year.
Well done to Man City duo Marmoush & Haaland. Arsenal’s Merino. Fulham’s Muniz. Man Utd’s Hojlund. Ipswich’s Hurst. Forest’s Jota Silva. Southampton’s Onuachu.
MANAGER: NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO (Notts Forest)
It was touch and go with the Brentford manager but what he continues to do with this Forest team is nothing short of amazing.
His team struck four goals at Ipswich, three in the first half which sealed the game. Two goals from Elanga, who he moved to a more central role which caused havoc for Ipswich.
Shout out also to Brentford’s Frank. Fulham’s Silva and Man Utd’s Amorim.
UNSUNG HERO: ANTHONY ELANGA (Notts Forest)
He just missed out on the midfielder award, he has turned in some good performances this season and chipped in with a few assists.
However, he got his first goals of the year with two clinical finishes, the first with the left, and the second with the right to seal the game in the first half, for his first brace of his career.
Well done also to Everton’s O’Brian. Fulham’s Robinson. Arsenal’s Timber and Brighton’s Estupinan.
GAME: MAN CITY 2-2 BRIGHTON
Mitoma had an early goal disallowed for a foul on the keeper. Before Man City opened the scoring when Marmoush was fouled in the box by Webster and Haaland made no mistake from the spot (11).
However, Estupinan then equalised with a lovely free kick off the post (21). Marmoush restored City’s lead with a rasping effort from just outside the box (39).
Early in the second half, Brighton got an equaliser when Webster’s header down from a corner, was swept forward by Hinshelwood and the ball bounced in off Khusanov (48).
GOAL: JENS CAJUSTE (Ipswich) vs Notts Forest
Delap picked up the ball a few yards outside the box and slipped it into Cajuste with a Forest defender rapidly closing him,
With his back slightly to goal and a Forest defender tight, he expertly pirouetted around him to evade the tackle, dragged the ball from his left to his right, and then curled a lovely effort inside the near post from just outside the box.
FOOL: SOUTHAMPTON
It was another defeat for the Saints who are on course for a record-breaking worse season in the Premier League.
This was their fifth straight defeat and have only won two games this year in all competitions. They are also still in single digits for points this season. FOOLS!
