I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON EIGHT
WEEK 33
This week in the Premier League, Brighton shocked Spurs to get a last minute 1-0 away win. Southampton surprised Arsenal beating them 1-0 at home. Man Utd needed a Ronaldo hat-trick to beat Norwich 3-2 at home. Brentford got a 2-1 win at Watford to secure their league status for another season. Newcastle needed a last-minute winner to beat Leicester 2-1 at home. West Ham drew at home 1-1 with Burnley. Then in midweek, Liverpool destroyed Man Utd 4-0 at home. Arsenal got an unexpected away win beating Chelsea 4-2 to put them back in fourth place contention. Man City eased past Brighton 3-0 at home. Newcastle beat Palace 1-0 at home to more or less secure their safety. Burnley beat Southampton 2-0 at home to help their survival and Everton needed a last-minute goal to draw 1-1 at home to Leicester to keep them above the relegation zone.
In the ITYIFL, after many weeks of relative comfortability, with just five game weeks to go. I wouldn’t say its exactly squeaky bum time, but the defending champ Danny Milton is certainly looking over his shoulder a bit. He scored a modest 43 point weekly score, with contributions mainly from captain Son (6) Barnes (12) Cancelo (6) and Robertson (6). Every little bit counts at this stage, so he won’t be happy leaving 10 point Weghorst on the bench.
My old work colleague Mr James has done well recently and has closed the gap to 53 points, following a very decent 72 point week. This was thanks to captain Ronaldo (34) Saka (10) Walker-Peters (7) and Robertson (6). This week’s Highest Mover, storming up three places from 6th to 3rd, trying to make it a three-horse title race is Jeff Franklin. This was thanks to a superb weekly score of 109 points, which also made him this week’s Highest Scorer. Doing the business were captain Ronaldo (34) Salah (19) Elanga (12) Saka (10) Weghorst (10) Sanchez (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Cancelo (6).
My youngest son Latrell Oscar remains in a Champions League place, following a very decent 72 point weekly score. He can thank the likes of captain Saka (20) Salah (19) Richarlison (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Robertson (6). Sanjay Beecher moves down to fifth, by way of an inferior free hit weekly score of 52 points, but is on the same score as fourth place. His contributions came from captain Kane (4) Saka (10) Schar (9) Walker-Peters (7) Schmeichel (5) and Wood (4).
My old football club mate Darren Ahmet also moves down, to sixth, despite a relatively decent 69 point week. This was mainly due to captain Ronaldo (34) Saka (10) and Alexander-Arnold (6). Washington DC’s Greg Cabana remains in seventh, with a weekly score of 61 points. His main contributors came from captain Maddison (6) Salah (19) Saka (10) Sanchez (7) and Alexander-Arnold (6).
Lee Barratt continues his recent good form, as he moves up to eighth due to a 64 point weekly score. This was thanks to the likes of captain Son (6) Salah (19) Saka (10) Alexander-Arnold (6) Cancelo (6) and Eriksen (5). Although he will be upset at leaving 15 points on the bench. Nordin Gharib moves down to ninth, following his weekly score of 56 points. This was due to captain Kane (4) Salah (19) Sanchez (7) Walker-Peters (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Eriksen (5).
Despite a very modest score of 48 points, Natalie Holder is still flying the flag for the ladies, as she remains in the top ten. Her contributions came from captain Kane (4) Saka (10) Dennis (8) Cancelo (6) Ward-Prowse (5) and Wilock (5).
