PLAYER NO116
Name: José Luis Gayà Peña
Original Team: Valencia
Best Position: Left back / wing back
Best Attribute: Passing / Natural Fitness / Corners
Bio: First and foremost, he is 25 when the game starts, so it could be hard to get him, especially as he’s been with Valencia all his career.
However, if you are persistent (like me), then it will be well worth your time and efforts. It took me three seasons of trying, and when I eventually succeeded, he was 30, but he gave me five really good years.
He was one of the first names on the team sheet, and could play all along the left flank. I played him both left-back and wing-back, and he was equally good in both. I even played him left midfield occasionally.
He’s an ultra-fit professional who has energy for days. At times, I marvelled at his fitness and ability to get up and down the left all game, playing two games a week, well into his 30s. Technically very good, he really suits a passing team.
Another real bonus is he takes excellent corners and can also take decent free kicks and penalties. Such was his quality, I could have put any number of his best attributes up here, such as technique, pace, agility, teamwork, decisions and determination.
Naturally, he became a Spanish international and seemed to get better with age.
