I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON NINE
WEEK 14
This week in the Premier League, Arsenal showed they are genuine challengers as they beat Chelsea 1-0 away. Liverpool got their first away win of the season, as they beat Spurs 2-1. Man City overcame a first-half red card, to beat Fulham 2-1 at home with a last-minute penalty. Leeds came back from 3-1 down to get a dramatic late 4-3 win over Bournemouth. Newcastle destroyed Southampton 4-1 away, which cost Ralph Hassenhuttl his job. As one ends, another starts. New Villa boss Unai Emery had a brilliant first game in charge as they beat Man Utd 3-1 at home. Crystal Palace also got a late winner as they came from a goal down to beat West Ham 2-1 away. Leicester was also impressive, as they beat Everton 2-0 away. Brighton beat 10-man Wolves 3-2 away, and Notts Forest also got a very late goal to get a 2-2 draw at home to Brentford.
In the ITYFL, with just one week to go before we break for the World Cup. League leader Natalie Stigwood is perilously looking over her shoulder as the chasing pack gets ever closer. She scored a modest 42 point weekly score with contributions mainly from captain Haaland (10) Trippier (12) and Kane (8).
Closing the gap in second to just 19 points is former champ, and I have to say, Mr consistent Jeff Franklin, thanks to a decent 58 point week. This was due to captain Haaland (10) Salah (15) Trippier (12) Andreas (6) Ward (6) and Trossard (5). In third place, also making up ground on the leader is my recent former work colleague Abdul Rahman, following his decent weekly score of 61 points. This was thanks to captain Haaland (10) Trippier (12) Gross (9) Almiron (8) Kane (8) Ward (6) and Trossard (5).
Remaining in fourth is October’s manager of the month, double champ Danny Milton, due to his decent 63 point week. Thanks to captain De Bruyne (14) Trippier (12) Zaha (12) Almiron (8) Kane (8) and Haaland (5). Remaining in fifth, also with a weekly score of 63 points is Yours Truly. I can thank the likes of captain Haaland (10) Trippier (12) Almiron (8) Kane (8) Saliba (8) and De Bruyne (7).
Moving up to sixth, just a few points behind is Sanjay Beecher, due to a very decent weekly score of 76 points. Thanks to a smart captain pick of Alvarez (18) also Salah (15) Trippier (12) Almiron (8) Kane (8) Haaland (5) and Trossard (5). This week’s joint Highest Mover is Washington DC’s Greg Cabana, who storms up six places from 13th to 7th, thanks to an excellent 80 point week, making him this week’s Highest Scorer. Doing the business was captain Haaland (10) Salah (15) Trippier (12) Maddison (11) Almiron (8) Castagne (6) White (6) Saka (5) and Trossard (5).
This sees my coaching Partner Francis Norville move down to eighth, despite a decent 59 point weekly score. His contributions were from triple captain De Bruyne (21) Trippier (12) Almiron (8) Ramsdale (6) and Haaland (5). My Spurs mate, and another former work colleague Keith Wilson also moved down to ninth, following his weekly score of 58 points. This was due to captain Haaland (10) Maddison (11) Almiron (8) Kane (8) Saliba (8) and Trossard (5).
This week’s other joint Highest Mover was my oldest nephew Tyrell Miles-Brown, following a very decent 72 point week. It moved him up six places from 16th to 10th, thanks to captain Saka (10) Trippier (12) Zaha (12) Maddison (11) Almiron (8) Saliba (8) Haaland (5) and Trossard (5). On the same points, in joint tenth is my youngest son and former champ Latrell Oscar, due to his decent 61 point weekly score. His contributions came from captain Martinelli (6) Salah (15) Trippier (12) Almiron (8) De Bruyne (7) and Haaland (5).
There is only one more game week until we break for an unprecedented World Cup. So make it count y’all.
