I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON NINE
WEEK 24
This week in the Premier League. Arsenal beat Leicester 1-0 away to stay top. Man City beat Bournemouth 4-1 away to continue their pursuit. Spurs strolled past a lacklustre Chelsea 2-0 at home. Villa got a good 2-0 away win at Everton. West Ham beat Notts Forest 4-0 at home to ease their relegation fears. As did Leeds, who beat rock-bottom Southampton 1-0 at home. Fulham drew 1-1 at home to Wolves. Liverpool drew 0-0 at Crystal Palace. Then in midweek, Arsenal opened a five-point gap at the top as they destroyed Everton 4-0 at home, and Liverpool beat Wolves 2-0 at home.
In the ITYIFL, with the average score being 74 points, given the circumstances, league leader Natalie Stigwood may consider this a poor week as she was the lowest-scoring manager in the top ten, following her 70 point weekly score. Her contributions came from captain Saka (30) Zinchenko (18) Haaland (10) and Kane (6).
Hot in pursuit, just 29 points behind in second and continuing his impressive debut season, is my recent former work colleague Abdul Rahman, with an 81 point week. Thanks to captain Haaland (20) Saka (15) Ramsdale (13) Saliba (12) Ake (6) Kane (6) and Watkins (6). Down into third is double champ Danny Milton with, given the circumstances a slightly modest weekly score of 76 points. Due to captain Salah (22) Saka (15) Odegaard (11) Haaland (10) Matip (6) and Nketiah (5).
Storming up into fourth place, another who is having an impressive debut season is Philippines native Jean Ninal, with an excellent 114 point wildcard weekly score. The second-highest weekly score this season. Doing the business was captain Haaland (20) Martinelli (26) Zinchenko (18) Alvarez (11) Odegaard (11) Salah (11) Kane (6) and Matip (6). Down into fifth is February joint manager of the month, Washington DC’s Greg Cabana, despite a decent free hit 96 point week. His contributions came from captain Salah (22) Saka (15) Alisson (12) Saliba (12) Odegaard (11) Haaland (10) and Watkins (6).
Moving up into sixth place is former champ Jeff Franklin due to his very decent weekly score of 97 points. Thanks to captain Saka (30) Martinelli (26) White (13) Haaland (10) Kane (6) and Sa (6). This sees Yours Truly move down to seventh, following my 88 point week, with contributions from captain Saka (30) Zinchenko (18) Odegaard (11) Haaland (10) Kane (6) and Robertson (5).
Remaining in eighth is Sanjay Beecher with an 84 point weekly score, due to points from captain Saka (30) White (13) Odegaard (11) Haaland (10) and Kane (6). Also, remaining in ninth but desperately trying to close the distance on the above managers, with a very decent weekly score of 97 points, is my old football clubmate, Oktay Ahmet. Thanks to captain Saka (30) Alexander-Arnold (13) Odegaard (11) Salah (11) Haaland (10) Kane (6) and Nketiah (6).
Making up the top ten is Timothy Stigwood with a very decent 101 point weekly score, the joint 7th-highest score this season. Due to captain Haaland (20) Martinelli (26) Saka (15) Saliba (12) Salah (11) and Kane (6). This week’s Highest Scorer is my brother from the same mother, Wayne Watson, thanks to a superb free hit 122 point week. Which is the highest weekly score recorded this season. Also, puts him joint 18th on the all-time list. Doing the business was captain Haaland (20) Martinelli (28) Gabriel (15) Alexander-Arnold (13) Foden (13) Alisson (12) Saliba (12) and Ake (6).
This week’s Highest Mover is my youngest son and former champ Latrell Oscar, due to his excellent 102 point weekly score, the 6th highest weekly score this season. This moved him up four places from 20th to 16th, thanks to triple captain Saka (45) Ramsdale (13) White (13) Haaland (10) Robinson (7) and Kane (6). Well done also to Charles Denton, whose 112 point weekly score was the 3rd highest this season. Lastly, a mention to Wayne James, who was February’s joint manager of the month.
Full steam ahead to week 25, make it count y’all.
