Bio: I would describe Salisu as a “useful signing.” I took a punt because I needed numbers in defence, but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised as he became so much more.
First and foremost, I loved his consistency in staying fit. Second, I was impressed with his performance consistency. I would describe him as a strong and reliable defender, prepared to put his body on the line for the cause.
Although you cannot expect him to be expansive with the ball at his feet, he had no problem playing in a pass-and-move team and was very competent.
A massive plus was his “goal-getting abilities.” A little hack was to set him to attack the near post, and he would get double figures or close to, for headed goals in the season.
Lastly, as a left-footer, he became versatile and transitioned into a backup left-back to good effect. Being at Southampton, you have a high chance of obtaining him if you put pressure on them with a few bids.
