SEASON ELEVEN
WEEK 20
This week in the Premier League, Notts Forest continued their impressive form with a sixth straight win after beating Wolves 3-0 away. Brentford destroyed Southampton 5-0 away. Newcastle also continued their good recent form with a 2-1 win at Tottenham.
Man City returned to normality with a 4-1 home win over West Ham. Bournemouth beat Everton 1-0 at home. Aston Villa defeated Leicester 2-1 at home. Man Utd drew 2-2 at Liverpool in an exciting game.
Ipswich drew 2-2 at Fulham in a game with three penalties. Brighton converted a controversial penalty to draw 1-1 at home to Arsenal, and Crystal Palace got a late goal to draw 1-1 at home to Chelsea.
In the ITYFL, as the Christmas period comes to an end, Owen Barnes sees himself still ahead of the pack but looking over his shoulder, following a modest weekly score of 46 points, with main contributions from captain Salah (14) Palmer (10), and Isak (7).
The first of this week’s three joint Highest Scorers is my youngest son and former champ Latrell Oscar, who moves into second place, just 21 points behind, thanks to his excellent 81 point weekly score. Doing the business were captain Palmer (20) Mbeumo (19) Joao Pedro (9) Sels (9) Wood (8) Salah (7), and Porro (4).
This sees Nordin Gharib move down to third place, with a 57 point week, due to captain Salah (14) Palmer (10) Wood (8) Isak (7) and Aina (6). But it could have been different had he not left a combined 19 points on the bench in Milenkovic, Amad, and Porro.
The defending three times champ Danny Milton, stays in a Champions League place following his weekly score of 57 points, with captain Salah (14) Palmer (10) Solanke (9) Gordon (7) and Isak (7).
December’s manager of the month, my recent(ish) former work colleague Abdul Raham, moves up to fifth and is the second of this week’s three joint Highest Scorers, thanks to his excellent 81 point week. Doing the business was captain Salah (14) Mbeumo (19) Palmer (10) Sels (9) Wood (8) Isak (7), and Aina (6). Just a point behind in sixth is Sanjay Beecher, flying the flag for JA & USA, following a 67 point weekly score. Due to captain Salah (14) Mbeumo (19) Haaland (13), and Gibbs-White (8).
My blood brother Wayne Watson stays in seventh with a weekly score of 64 points and contributions from captain Salah (14) Haaland (13) Wissa (11) Aina (6), and Flekken (6). My former work colleague and Arsenal man Mr James remains in eighth, following a 59 point week, due to captain Salah (14) Palmer (10) Sels (9) Isak (7) Elanga (6) and Porro (4).
The first of this week’s joint Highest Movers is Simon Sebhat, who moved up two places from 11th to 9th with a decent weekly score of 79 points, thanks to captain Isak (14) Mbeumo (19) Kerkez (12) Palmer (10) Wood (8) and Salah (7). Two-time champ Jeff Franklin moves down, but remains in the top ten following a 59 point weekly score, with captain Salah (14) Haaland (13) Amad (9) Isak (7) and Flekken (6).
This week’s third of three joint Highest Scorers is my middle son, Jahsiah Tobierrie, with his excellent 81 point week. This also made him the joint Highest Mover, as he moved up two places from 16th to 14th, thanks to captain Salah (14) Mbeumo (19) Palmer (10) Sels (9) Huijsen (8) Wood (8) and Isak (7).
