TEAM: LEEDS UNITED
There wasn’t much to choose from this week; however, the newly promoted team earned a well-deserved away win to claim this award.
After conceding as early as the 8th minute, they bounced back well to score three first-half goals, then showed some stern and disciplined defending in the second half to secure the win.
Well done to Crystal Palace. Fulham. Liverpool and Man Utd.
GOALKEEPER: MARTIN DUBRAVKA (Burnley)
Despite conceding in both games he has played for Burnley, last week was a last-minute penalty against the Champions, and this week was an early wonder strike.
However, Forest will be scratching their heads, wondering how they didn’t add to their goals as Dubrakva was in inspired form and, due to this, earned his team a vital point.
Shout out to Forest’s Sels, Leeds’s Darlow and Palace’s Henderson.
DEFENDER: NORDI MUKIELE (Sunderland)
Although the whole defence or even team contributed, the Frenchman was the outstanding performer, especially after they went down to 1o men in the first half.
He put his body on the line with endless blocks and tackles, and reduced a struggling Villa to just two shots on goal.
Well done to his teammates, Hume & Alderete. Bournemouth duo Diakite & Senesi. Newcastle duo Botman and Burn. Chelsea’s Chalobah. Man Utd’s Shaw. Villa’s Cash.
Liverpool’s Van Dijk, Forest’s Williams. Spurs’ Udogie. Palace trio Richards, Lacroix & Guehi. Leeds duo Bogle & Gudmundsson. Fulham duo Anderson & Bassey. Also, Man City duo Khusanov & O’Reilly.
MIDFIELDER: RYAN GRAVENBERCH (Liverpool)
In just four league games, he has elevated his performances, which saw him win the young player of the year last season.
Now he is adding goals and assists to his game with a beautiful finish to open the scoring against Everton, then a lovely ball to assist Ekitike, which turned out to be the winner.
Shout out to his teammate Szoboszblai. Everton duo Grealish and Gueye. Brighton duo Ayari & Minteh. Spurs duo Kudus & Simons. Burnley’s Anthony. Forest’s Anderson.
Man Utd’s Fernandes. Palace duo Munoz & Mitchell. Leeds’s Stach. Fulham duo Iwobi & Wilson. Brentford’s Damsgaard. Sunderland’s Xhaka. West Ham’s Bowen and Man City’s Doku.
FORWARD: WILSON ISIDOR (Sunderland)
Who would have thought that after five games, the Sunderland man would sit joint second on three goals, scoring in a third home game in a row?
This one must have felt special, being down to ten men, down a goal and staring defeat in the face. But he showed anticipation, awareness and clinical finishing to score and earn his team an unlikely point.
Well done to Man City’s Haaland, Liverpool’s Ekitike, Arsenal’s Martinelli, Spurs’ Richarlison. Palace’s Mateta. Leeds Duo Calvert-Lewin & Okofor. Also, Wolves’ Krejci.
MANAGER: OLIVER GLASNER (Crystal Palace)
Along with Arne Slot’s defending champions, they are the only other unbeaten team in the league this season.
He has taken this team on leaps and bounds, winning two trophies. He lost his best player, fought to keep his captain, and this week’s win at West Ham made it two wins and three draws for an unbeaten start.
Shout out to Leeds’ Daniel Farke, Fulham’s Silva, Liverpool’s Slot. Man Utd’s Amorim and Sunderland’s Le Bris.
UNSUNG HERO: GRANIT XHAKA (Sunderland)
He really led by example for his team and showed what a valuable commodity experience is in the game, especially after his team went down to ten men.
With a man down, he led the press, led with the fight and determination and did not allow his team to drop their heads. Then assisted the equaliser with a lovely placed header.
Well done to Liverpool’s Ekitike, who was close to winning this. Fulham’s Iwobi. Leeds Stach and Crystal Palace’s Mitchell.
GAME: LIVERPOOL 2-1 EVERTON
Gravenberch lit up the Merseyside derby after his run into the box was found by Salah from the right, and with the ball coming over his shoulder, he hooked the ball back towards goal, first time into the far corner for a wonderful strike (10).
Liverpool made it two when Gevernberch found Ekitike, who slid a clinical low effort across the goal into the far corner (29).
Everton came back into it in the second half and pulled a goal back when Ndiaye neatly knocked down Grealish’s cross from the left for Gueye to smash home (58).
GOAL: YASIN AYARI (Brighton) vs Tottenaham
Ayari did well to anticipate Bergvall trying to clear the ball from the right back position. He stopped the pass, turned, took a touch, and in a split second hit a brilliant effort from just outside the corner of the box that swerved into the far corner.
There was also a very good goal from Liverpool’s Gravenberch.
FOOL: ROBERT SANCHEZ (Chelsea)
Casimero was lucky after his two yellow cards didn’t result in disaster. However, in the same game, just four minutes into it. Sanchez’s indecision caused him to foul Mbeumo to get his deserved marching orders, and it was downhill for Chelsea from then on. FOOL!
