SEASON TWELVE

WEEK 9

This week in the Premier League, Sunderland shocked Chelsea, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 at Stamford Bridge with a late goal. Liverpool suffered a fourth consecutive league defeat, losing 3-2 at Brentford. Aston Villa surprised Man City with a 1-0 home win.

Arsenal stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League by four points with a 1-0 home win against Crystal Palace. Spurs destroyed Everton 3-0 away. Burnley got a much-needed win at Wolves with a late goal to claim a 3-2 victory.

Man Utd got their third straight league win with a comfortable 4-2 at home. Bournemouth eased past Notts Forest 2-0 at home. Newcastle got a late winner to beat Fulham 2-1 at home, and Leeds beat West Ham 2-1 at home.

In the ITYFL, former champ (ahem) Charles Denton remains fairly comfortable at the top following a steady 48 point weekly score, mainly due to captain Haaland (4), Pedro Porro (11), Gabriel (9) Senesi (5), and Roefs (4).

Closing the gap to just 22 points is coach Simz, Simeon Edwards, thanks to a very decent 60 point week. With captain Haaland (4) Van de Ven (23) Gabriel (9) Zubimendi (5), and Guehi (4).

My football club mate Darren Michael maintains his excellent recent form as he moves up to third, following his very decent weekly score of 61 points, thanks to captain Haaland (4) Van de Ven (23) Eze (11), and Timber (6).

Staying in a Champions League place is my oldest son, under his alias Tommy Devito, with a modest weekly score of 45 points, due to captain Haaland (4) Gabriel (9) Rice (7) Senesi (5) Thiago (5), and Guehi (4).

Moving down to fifth, four points behind is Yours Truly. I had a disappointing 36 point week. My only real contributions came from captain Haaland (4) Gabriel (9), and Calafiori (6). Just two points behind is this week’s joint Highest Mover. Tommy Lee moved up five places from 11th to 6th, thanks to a very decent 64 point weekly score, which also made him this week’s joint Highest Scorer. Doing the business were captain Kudus (6) Mbeumo (15) Rice (7) Gabriel (9) Timber (6) Bowen (5) Thiago (5), and Guehi (4).

That sees Owen Barnes move down to seventh, but just a point behind, following a modest 47 point week, with captain Haaland (4) Gabriel (9) Rice (7) Raya (6) Salah (6), and Senesi (5). Up to eighth, just two points behind, is this week’s other joint Highest Scorer, my long-time bredrin Francis Norville, with a weekly score of 64 points. Thanks to captain Haaland (4) Mbeumo (15) Eze (11) Gabriel (9) Martinez (8) Buendia (4), and Guehi (4).

Down to ninth is Sanjay Beecher, flying the flag for JA & USA, despite a decent weekly score of 51 points, following main contributions from captain Salah (12) and Van de Ven (23). My OldSkool mate Derick Fredericks holds onto a top ten spot despite his modest 39 point week, with captain Haaland (4) Gabriel (9) Senesi (5) Guehi (4) and Roefs (4).

This week’s other joint Highest Mover is my middle son Jahsiah Tobierrie, who moved up five places from 18th to 13th, due to his very decent 62 point weekly score. Thanks to captain Haaland (4) Van de Ven (23) Tavernier (11) Salah (6) and Senesi (5).
