WEEK 21

Happy New Year all, this week in the Premier League, on the first two days of the year, Arsenal scored two first half goals to beat Man Utd at home 2-0. Southampton beat Spurs 1-0 at home. Leicester beat Newcastle 3-0 away. Man City beat Everton 2-1 at home. West Ham destroyed Bournemouth 4-0 at home in David Moyes’ first game back in charge. Watford beat Wolves 2-1 at home. Liverpool beat Sheff Utd 2-0 at home. Aston Villa beat Burnley 2-1 away. Brighton got a late, spectacular goal to draw 1-1 at home to Chelsea also, Norwich and Palace played out a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

In a relatively low scoring ITYIFL, Washington DC’s Greg C has hopefully started off the year as he means to go on, as he remains on top of the table via just 11 points thanks to 44 points week. This is thanks to the likes of Ings (9) Mane (8) Richarlison (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Pereira (6).

My oldest mate Delroy Preddie remains in second, closing the gap slightly with a weekly score of 47 points. This was thanks to captain Kane (4) Grealish (13) Maddison (11) and Alexander-Arnold (6). Natalie Stigwood remains in third, due to the weekly score of 40 points with contributions only from captain Abraham (10) Mane (8) and Soyuncu (8)

Perennial top ten man Danny Milton moves up into the Champions League places with a superb weekly score of 69 points. Doing the business were vice captain De Bruyne (4) Grealish (13) Maddison (11) Salah (10) Ings (9) Soyuncu (8) and Gomez (6). Lee Barratt moves down one into fifth, with a disappointing wildcard weekly score of 35 points. His only real contributions came from captain De Bruyne (4) Salah (10) and Soyuncu (8).

Last seasons runner up Mr James moves up into sixth with a very decent weekly score of 68 points. This was thanks to captain Salah (20) Maddison (11) Cantwell (10) Ings (9) and Alexander-Arnold (6). Timothy Stigwood moves down into seventh with a disappointing weekly score of 41 points. His contributions only came from captain De Bruyne (4) Salah (10) Evans (6) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Abraham (5).

Also moving down, into eighth is Mr Ever present Jeff Franklin with a weekly score of 48 points. This was due to contributions mainly from captain Salah (20) Ings (9) and Alexander-Arnold (6). Owen Barnes moves up into ninth with a very decent weekly score of 68 points. Thanks to captain Mane (16) Maddison (11) Cantwell (10) Douglas Luiz (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) Pereira (6) and Abraham (5).

Natalie Holder moves up three places from 13th into the top ten, making her this weeks joint Highest Mover with a superb weekly score of 70 points, which also made her this weeks Highest Scorer. Doing the business were vice captain De Bruyne (4) Grealish (13) Robertson (12) Maddison (11) Cantwell (10) Soyuncu (8) and Alexander-Arnold (6).

This weeks other joint Highest Mover was Sanjay Beecher who moves up three places from 25th to 22nd, due to a weekly score of 56 points. This was thanks to vice captain Alexander-Arnold (12) Maddison (11) Mane (8) Soyuncu (8) Zaha (5) and Abraham (5).
