I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON EIGHT
WEEK 1
The Premier League is finally back with fans in the stadium, and it really made a difference as this weekends games recorded the joint second most goals ever in the first week. A Kane less Tottenham shocked champions and £100m Grealish’s Man City, beating them 1-0 at home. Man Utd signalled their intent by destroying Leeds 5-1 at home. New boys Brentford showed what they are capable of by beating lacklustre Arsenal 2-0 at home. Chelsea brushed Viera’s Palace aside 3-0 at home. Liverpool brushed Norwich aside by the same score at Carrow road. Everton came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 at home. West Ham also came from behind to beat Newcastle 4-2 away, with the aid of a dubious penalty. Brighton also came from behind late to beat Burnley 2-1 away. New boys Watford had a great start beating a Grealish less Aston Villa 3-2 at home and Leicester beat Wolves at home 1-0.
In the ITYIFL. The reigning and defending champion Danny Milton signalled his intent and certainly started where he left off last season, by topping the league. He was also the only manager to break the 100 point barrier, with a superb 110 point weekly score. This obviously made him this weeks Highest Scorer. Doing the business were captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Antonio (13) Son (10) Sarr (9) Ings (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Tsmikas (6).
In joint second, firstly, coming off an impressive ninth place finish last season and flying the flag for the ladies is Natalie Holder, with a very decent 94 point week. This was thanks to captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Richarlison (11) Wilson (6) Amartey (6) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Dallas (5). Also, Nordin Gharib, who finished 11th and 10th respectively, in the last two seasons, so will be looking for another top ten finish. His 94 point week was due to capitan Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Antonio (13) Calvert-Lewin (7) Wilson (6) and Alexander-Arnold (6).
In fourth, just a point behind with a 93 point weekly score is Sanjay Beecher, who is coming off an eighth place finish last season and looking good already. He can thank the likes of captain Salah (34) Antonio (13) Son (10) Sarr (9) Ings (7) Alexander-Arnold (6) and Tsmikas (6). Kool FM’s Pressure X is in fifth, with a very decent weekly score of 91 points. His contributions came from captain Fernandes (40) Salah (17) Ings (7) Cresswell (7) Vardy (5) and Dallas (5).
In sixth is former champ and last season’s runner up Jeff Franklin, with a weekly score of 90 points. This was due to captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Greenwood (8) Ings (7) Wilson (6) and Tsmikas (6). In seventh, is my right hand man Tyrone Brown, with an 87 point weekly score, thanks to contributions from captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Son (10) Ings (7) Saint-Maximin (6) and Maupay (5).
Just a point behind in eighth, with a weekly score of 86 is Yours Truly. I can thank the likes of captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Ings (7) Mount (6) Tsimikas (6) and Mendy (6). In ninth, just a point behind me, with a weekly score of 85, is my old club mate Darren Ahmet, due to captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Greenwood (8) Calvert-Lewin (7) and Alisson (7).
Its a real domestic affair in joint tenth, as two of my offspring resume their fierce battle from last season, with a 84 point weekly score. My youngest son, former ITYIFL champ and last season’s family champ Latrell Oscar, will look to improve on his 6th place last season. His contributions came from captain Salah (34) Fernandes (20) Cresswell (7) Tsimikas (6) and Vardy (5). Also, my middle son, Jahsiah Tobierrie, who’ll want to improve on his 7th place last season and topple his brother, Can thank the likes of captain Fernandes (40) Son (10) Calvert-Lewin (7) Mount (6) Ayling (6) and Mendy (6).
Fair to say its been a thrilling start. Full steam ahead to week two. Let the games begin and make it count y’all.
