I TELL YAH INVITATIONAL LEAGUE
SEASON EIGHT
WEEK 35
This week in the Premier League, Man City brushed past Leeds 4-0 away, while Liverpool beat Newcastle away 1-0 to keep the tile race on the edge. Arsenal beat West Ham 2-1 away while Spurs beat Leicester 3-1 at home in the battle for Champions League, which could be decided in the North London derby. Burnley came from a goal down to beat Watford 2-1 away to stay out of the relegation zone. Everton beat Chelsea 1-0 at home to help their relegation chances. Brighton beat Wolves 3-0 away. Man Utd beat Brentford 3-0 at home. Crystal Palace beat Southampton 2-1 away and Aston Villa beat relegated Norwich 2-0 at home.
In the ITYIFL, after threatening to run away with it, then being pegged in recent weeks. Like a true champion, Danny Milton responded to the challenge when he really needed it, to put up a very decent weekly score of 67 points. This was thanks to the likes of captain Kane (12) Son (19) Kulusevski (8) Robertson (6) Van Dijk (6) and Canelo (5).
Just 13 points behind in second, my old work colleague Mr James has been relentless in his pursuit. This continued, as he was again this week’s Highest Scorer thanks to an excellent 68 point week. Doing the business were captain Ronaldo (14) Son (19) Jesus (8) Martinelli (6) Robertson (6) and Jota (5). April’s manager of the month Jeff Franklin remains in third, desperately trying to make it a three-horse title race. He had a 49 point weekly score, mainly due to Son (19) Elanga (6) Sanchez (6) and Cancelo (5).
Another whose been in really good form recently. My old football club mate Darren Ahmet moves up into a Champions League place, thanks to his wildcard weekly score of 47 points. His contributions came from captain Jesus (16) Kulusevski (8) Cancelo (5) and Jota (5). This see’s my youngest son and former champ Latrell Oscar move down to fifth, following his weekly score of 46 points. This was due to captain Ronaldo (14) Kulusevski (8) Robertson (6) and Sanchez (6).
Sanjay Beecher remains in sixth, following his decent wildcard weekly 54 point week, thanks to the likes of captain Kane (12) Foden (9) Jesus (8) Kulusevski (8) and Robertson (6). In seventh, losing ground on his compatriot is Washington DC’s Greg Cabana, following his 40 point weekly score. His contribution came mainly from Watkins (9) Cash (6) Kane (6) and Zaha (6).
This week’s Highest Mover, flying the flag for the ladies is Natalie Holder. She moved up two places from 10th to 8th, thanks to a very decent 63 point weekly score. This was due to captain Ronaldo (14) Kulusevksi (8) Martinez (7) Laporte (6) Cancelo (5) and Jota (5). Moving down to ninth with a somewhat disappointing 32 point week is Lee Barratt, where his only real contributions came from Laporte (6) Cancelo (5) Jota (5) and Saka (4).
Moving up, back into the top ten is another former champ, ahem Charles Denton despite his very modest 39 point weekly score. This was thanks mainly to Iheanacho (8) Kulusevski (8) Laporte (6) and Matip (6).
Congratulations to the managers who made it through to the quarter finals of the cup. Full steam ahead to week 36. With plenty of points up for grabs, make it count y’all.
